Internet of Medical Things

IOMT

AngularAgileXS

A cloud Internet of Medical Things platform: devices, the events they send and the data behind them, built so that tech companies could spin their own vertical IoT solution on top of it and end customers could manage their smart assets. TT Tech built the Angular frontend. The platform outlived its first product: the same frontend became the base of a care-at-home product and was later rebuilt inside a monorepo.

The story

  1. 1

    The platform

One frontend for many verticals. Devices register, send events, and the platform turns them into dashboards, alerts and data a customer can act on. Every vertical is a tenant on the same codebase, so the architecture had to keep the shared core and the tenant-specific parts apart from the first day.

  2. 2

    What it became

The platform was the base of a later care-at-home product: the same frontend, the same layering, new domain on top. When that product grew, the codebase was rebuilt inside a monorepo, with the boundaries between core and domain made explicit as libraries. The shape chosen for IoT devices turned out to be the shape medical care needed too.

  3. 3

    The lesson

Architecture that outlives the product it was built for is the architecture worth teaching. Keep the core free of the first customer's assumptions, draw the boundaries where the next product will need them, and a platform can change domain without starting over. It is the same layering we use in Angular, React Native and Swift today.
